EXPERIENCE

The Dancer’s Extension, Owner and Instructor, 2010 - present

          Complete operation of the small business of a dance studio; choreographing, teaching and staging concert pieces in ballet, jazz,                            contemporary and preschool subjects for class groups and student solos; chose accompanying music, costumes, and stage sets;

          business bookkeeping and accounting; communication with parents and community members; advertising, web design and social media.

National Honor Society for Dance Arts, Chapter Sponsor Volunteer, 2011 - present

          Mentor and guide students in grades six through twelve towards induction; encourage further study of the art of dance; lead students in                   community service performances and projects.

Polk County Schools, Dance Teaching Artist, 2014 – present

Collaborate with administration to secure grant funding; professional development for grade level teachers on dance integration; facilitate learning for grades PreK-5th with dance integration projects.

Tryon Little Theatre, Lead Choreographer, 2014 – present

Choreograph, teach, refine and stage for musical theatre productions of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Fall 2015) and Fiddler On the Roof (Spring 2014)

Community Guest Speaker and Demonstrator, 2009 - present

Lead workshops for children at schools, libraries and churches on the history of dance and the basics of choreography.

Merle’s Dance Place, Instructor and Choreographer, 2003-2010

Taught ages 3-18 the fine art of dance; choreographed and staged recital pieces in ballet, pointe, jazz and preschool subjects; chose accompanying music and costumes, and worked closely with staff and parents.
